Winter Blessings
a little wild note for the Solstice
Hello lovely ones!
Happy Solstice to you all;
Winter here in wild Northumberland, where the Gulls have been coasting all day on the mild gusts over my house by the sea, and the fog has hung over the branches of the Ash trees, bare but for the clusters of ragged, sodden keys (seeds) that they cling on to. I went for a stomp in the last hour of daylight, to put to bed the past in my mind and my heart, and to enter the liminal season with fresh blood moving around my system. I passed a thousand Crows (or Rooks?) perched in the tree tops, watching me pass, and a field of friendly but silent Sheep. I nodded to the largest Willow tree that I’ve often sat with, and said hello to the fast-moving stream, the Hawthorn guardians that line the lane, and a solitary Swan on the Tweed at full tide. All grey, all dampened in sound and moisture! But all wonderfully vigilant.
How have you spent your shortest day of light? Or longest, if you are over the globe?
A couple of gifts…
Two gifts for you, my followers and supporters, because I cherish you!

Happy Solstice, Jo. We didn't get to Duddo today ( would have been nice to see the art, but not nice for walking to the stones). Stayed home and made mince pies instead x
Thanks for the free newsletter. I will read it when there is a time I can be quiet. Onward with preparations for now. Love Mum 🩷💜🩵
